I’m talking to two different Siri right now. It’s weird. One is this new AI version, still in beta, hanging out on my iPhone. The other is the old, dumber Siri living inside my HomePod. I can’t treat them the same way. The smart one stays put for now. You won’t find it on my current Apple TV 4K box either. It’s not everywhere. Yet.
Apple will likely push that brain into HomePods and TVs eventually. They always do. But here is the kicker: getting ready for it costs more money now. Apple just raised prices on their older gear. Big jumps. It’s a lot more than most people counted on.
I talk through this on this week’s episode of One More Thing —the link is embedded above if you care to watch. We look at what Apple needs to fix immediately with these smart home gadgets. Also, how surprising the beta Siri actually is. Sometimes it shocks me.
